What is swimming video analysis?

Swimming video analysis uses underwater footage to show movements that are difficult to see or feel while swimming. Steve reviews the footage with you, explains what is happening and identifies practical changes to improve your technique.

Is this just an underwater filming service?

No. Filming is only the starting point. The main purpose of the session is personalised stroke analysis and coaching so that you understand what to work on and how to practise it.

Who is the service for?

Sessions are available to adult swimmers aged 18 and over, from fitness swimmers and developing triathletes to experienced Masters and open-water athletes.

Can you analyse freestyle for triathlon and open-water swimming?

Yes. Pool-based underwater footage can reveal important aspects of freestyle technique, including body position, breathing, hand entry, catch, pull, timing and efficiency.

Do you analyse strokes other than freestyle?

Yes. All four competitive strokes can be analysed. Your session will be shaped around your goals and the areas you want to improve.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions are held at Aqua Jetty in Warnbro, within the City of Rockingham, south of Perth, Western Australia.

How much does swim video analysis cost?

Solo sessions cost $150. Duo sessions cost $115 per swimmer, and Team of Four sessions cost $90 per swimmer.

What happens during a session?

Steve first discusses your swimming background and goals, films your stroke, reviews the footage with you and identifies the most useful areas for improvement. The emphasis is on clear explanations and practical next steps.

Do I receive a copy of my footage?

Yes. After your session you will receive a link to the edited footage so that you have a copy for yourself.

What should I bring?

Bring your normal swimwear, goggles and water bottle. If there is anything additional required for your particular session, Steve will let you know beforehand.

Can swimmers under 18 book?

UFG filming and analysis sessions are currently available to swimmers aged 18 and over.
